There are times in your life when experiences change your life forever. Then there are times in your life when other’s expierences touch into your soul. I was immediately touched when I first heard about Mitchell. He was diagnosed with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy, and ended up dying of acute heart failure in his home with his family surrounding him. Their situation hit close to home. Almost too close to home. With our son Cole, we also held him in our arms and waited for his life to end.

Mitchell’s family and friends put together a Facebook page, Mitchell’s Journey, where they shared Mitchell’s daily decline and their personal expierinces with him. It has such raw and honest emotions and immediately gained support from around the world. As I read their post daily I find myself dripping in tears. I can feel their love for their little boy and know of the heartache they were going through. However with all the pain, there is a light that makes me strive to be a better mom. To listen and be more patient. To leave the dishes and go play cars. To stop cooking dinner and wrap my arms around my husband when he comes home. Life is so precious. And it is experiences that we are able to have either through ourselves or others, that help us see the love in the world.

Burying a child is something that no parent should ever have to do. The whole process is horrible. One of my friends is from a third world country and he was telling me about the village where he grew up. There it wasn’t unusual for a mother to bury at least one child in her lifetime. Most of these women couldn’t afford any type of coffin and would have to wrap their child in a cloth and bury them in the dirt. It is my mission to spare the pain for atleast one mother or father from burying their child. To give one child the chance at life and a future full of hope and dreams.

At Sugar Doodle Kids we love the holiday tradition of getting new pajamas on Christmas Eve. So we decided to spread the joy and went to a local shelter to give out some pajamas to celebrate our Christmas Eve tradition with them. What a great honor and joy it is to be able to give back and see the smiles on these children’s faces as they opened their new pair of Sugar Doodle Kids pajamas. We are so grateful to have had the opportunity today to share this tradition with these kids, and we hope that we can continue to do this in the years to come.

How We Give

At Sugar Doodle Kids, our process of giving back is very simple; for every product purchased, we give a meal to a child in need. Because No Child Should Ever Go To Bed Hungry. Sugar Doodle Kids believes that by working with credible, respected and efficient organizations that are working to fight hunger in the world every day we can make the most of each committed meal and to each child in need. We work with these organizations strategically in order to help the greatest number of children and distribute the meals to children in the world together. Many of the organizations that we work with also focus on combating hunger at the root causes such as poverty, education, natural disaster crisis situations, political instability and long term sustainability in providing food in their own communities. We gain valuable insight in understanding the greatest demands for children’s hunger by listening and working closely with these partners. Together we focus on meeting the most immediate needs for children’s hunger nationally and internationally; making the greatest impact we can with every meal we give short term and long term.

We also do Sugar Doodle Kids Food Drops which consists of us directly serving children meals. We have always wanted to make sure that while we give to organizations we still have the opportunity to meet, care and provide for the children we are privleged to serve and help. We know that without you, we could not do this incredibly important cause. We invite our supporters to come with us and participate in doing these incredible events to serve children and give back too. We want as many of our supporters to experience this and we feel like it is an obligation that we owe to our supporters. Although we cannot take all of our supporters we periodically do have opportunities that you can come and participate and serve these children.

Sustainable Giving

We want to do more than give a meal away to a child and walk away from him or her not knowing if they will be given a real chance to succeed once we leave. That is why we also work with organizations that encourage and give children opportunities to succeed through education, developing life skills and maintaining good health. We also assist in teaching children and their families how to contribute to their society, to gain a living and then go into the world to succeed. This allows them to eventually support themselves and their families. We know that in order for this to happen, we must allow them to have an opportunity to succeed. Children cannot do this if they are hungry, malnourished or stricken with disease. That is why we are here. At Sugar Doodle Kids, our goal is to give these children an opportunity to dream again, a chance to have hope, to live, to laugh, to learn, to be a kid and the reassurance that they will be able to have the basic need of nutrition met. If we can help in this fight, we know we can work to win the battle against childhood hunger. We hope by doing this, children will live their dreams, ambitions, goals, and have the opportunity to succeed. Because at Sugar Doodle Kids we believe that every child should Dream In Comfort!

Our Giving Partners work to accomplish:

Identify Key Children’s Hunger Areas In The World - Together we find the greatest demand for children’s hunger nationally and internationally and then put a plan in place to go and serve these communities and children.

Help Our Contributions Make a Bigger Impact - Because the partners we work with are established in the communities we are giving meals to, they can make sure that our meals will be recieved by children and the proper care will be given to children that may need medical attention in order to help cure diseases and other related illnesses due to hunger.

Sustainable Giving - We want all of the children who receive meals from Sugar Doodle Kids to grow, learn, thrive and then be able to become productive citizens within their communities and learn sustainable ways to provide for themselves and families. We work with our partners to not only give meals but to help advance children to success and accomplishing their dreams in life.

We Listen & Improve - We rely on our giving partners to give us feedback on how to improve the effeciency of giving meals within certain communities, while making sure that our processes are working to fight hunger for these communities and children.

We believe that feeding the hungry when you have the resources to do so is the most obvious of all human obligations, and especially children. Hunger is the number one health risk. It kills more people every year than AIDS, malaria and tuberculosis combined. Good nutrition in the first several years of a child is critical and is especially important to establish a good foundation for a child’s mental, physical, academic advancement and economic outlook. Children face the greatest challenges due to hunger and are therefore at the highest risk of facing extreme short-term and long-term consequences. Hunger will weaken the immune system and increases the risk of infection and disease. These effects have a much greater impact on a child and a hungry child can begin to suffer from chronic hunger, moderate malnutrition, and severe malnutrition. These children that develop malnutrition can cause diseases that become deadly.

Every 6 seconds a child dies because of hunger and related causes. (Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), 2004)

16.1 million children in America live in poverty.

200 million children go to bed hungry.

More than 9 million children under age 5 die every year. Malnutrition accounts for more than one-third of these deaths.

More than 6 million children die of malnutrition each year.

Nearly 15 percent of babies in developing countries are born with a low birth weight compared with only 7 percent of babies in industrialized countries.

About 5.6 million deaths of children worldwide are related to under-nutrition. This accounts for 53 percent of the total deaths for children under 5.

Every child is important and should have the opportunity to have the ability to a meal. We have a lot of work to do in order to solve these issues and we hope that you will join us in this cause because every child should Dream In Comfort.

Sugar Doodle Kids is a children’s sleepwear company, but we are not your traditional children’s sleepwear company, we are on an awesome social mission to give back and help conquer children’s hunger in the world, while providing the hippest and most amazingly designed children’s sleepwear products in design, comfort, quality and pure awesomeness.

Sugar Doodle Kids products include children’s pajamas, while we hope to add bedding, slippers, books, bubble bath, bath towels, sleeping bags, and much, much, more products to hit the sack. These products are designed and created in what we call the Sugar Doodle way. Our approach to designing and creating children’s sleepwear products, such as pajamas, is what we hope to be a fun and rewarding process for all who participate in our Sugar Doodle magic. The pajamas that are sold are designed based on the creations from talented and creative children and artists. They submit their artwork and designs to Sugar Doodle Kids via its website, during what are called, Sugar Doodle Kids “design competitions”, which are fun competitions that are based on different themes, because come on the skies the limit! Sugar Doodle Kids then posts the most amazing artwork yours eyes will ever behold onto our website, the designs are then voted for online by our awesome fans like you, or fans of some really cool artists through our online community on sugardoodlekids.com, or via Facebook, Pinterest, and other social media platforms. Once these incredible designs have been voted on, the top designs are put onto our pajamas and other sleepwear products and are produced just for you.

Through the income we produce we are then able to support our social endeavor and mission to serve the children who are suffering from hunger in the world. We do this process for all of our amazingly crafted products. Through this unique business model, we pay our amazing designers, children and artists, a fee based on their awesomeness and incredible artwork. Then onto our social mission, and that is for every pair of pajamas or any other Sugar Doodle Kids products sold, it will give a meal to a hungry child in need. Because No Child Should Ever Go To Bed Hungry! Sugar Doodle Kids feels an obligation and duty to contribute to the 400 million hungry children in the world, and we believe that all children should have the ability to Dream In Comfort.

Sugar Doodle Kids will work with many different organizations that focus on children’s hunger. Through these strategic partnerships and other non-profit organizations that focus on children’s hunger, we will not only donate money to these causes but also join them in fighting to serve these children, while helping uplift these communities by solving other related problems that stem from hungry children. By doing this we hope to help the underlying issues of children’s hunger such as poverty, education, health, and the economic outlook for children. We look to advance their dreams be living healthy young lives, which allows them to become productive children and eventually contributing members to their communities. Hunger affects every aspect of human development.
Without good nutrition; A child’s growth will be stunted. His/her intellectual and motor skills will be impaired. His/her malnourished body will become more vulnerable
to disease, and most likely, he/she won’t have the energy-needed for school. If he/she survives to adulthood, their economic prospects could be bleak. We intend to change this for the world at Sugar Doodle Kids one Sugar Doodle product one child at a time!

We are committed to giving every child an opportunity to succeed and in eliminating children’s hunger in the world, while at the same time creating the highest quality products, and giving all artists a platform to create a name, design pure awesomeness and show their amazing work to the world through our products. We hope you will join us in our cause in wherever you think you fit into the Sugar Doodle family. Let’s go make a difference for good in the world, and especially for all our children! We welcome you to Sugar Doodle Kids and the Sugar Doodle Kids family!

We went for the first time to the Utah Food Band to fill backpacks with non-perishable food for children in need to take home over the weekend. It was shocking to learn and see what a great demand it is here in Utah. We are so happy to be able to give back with such a great organization as the Utah Food Bank! Thank You!
